Up Past Queens

2017 Queen

Samantha Smith

Samantha grew up in the Midwest and considers Des Moines her hometown. She is a Legal Assistant at Hansen, McClintock & Riley in Downtown Des Moines and is currently working towards her Event Management Certification with The George Washington University. Samantha graduated in 2014 from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota with a degree in Marketing Management. During that time she studied in Ireland at University College Cork for a summer term. She was involved in cheerleading, American Marketing Association, The Junior League, and Feed My Starving Children organization. In Samantha’s free time she enjoys going to hockey games, traveling the world, and helping out with events.

Samantha applied to be the FSOSP’s Irish Queen to honor and celebrate her Irish heritage. Her family is originally from Co. Mayo and Co. Sligo and immigrated to Minnesota during the potato famine. She has had the opportunity to visit Ireland on two occasions, where she toured the country and even had a chance to visit her family’s pub in Dublin. Additionally, FSOSP is an organization with values that reflect Samantha’s personal passions in life. She admires FSOSP’s support of local charities and hosting exciting events in Des Moines.

Queen's presence is requested at ALL Friendly Sons of St. Patrick events held throughout the year.
